Holding SYNOT is a well recognized and respected company which belongs amongst the biggest players in the lottery industry, setting the bar on the market while being known as one of the technological leaders. By cooperating with leading suppliers on the Czech and international lottery markets, SYNOT continuously introduces interesting new projects which are well received by customers. The owners of Holding SYNOT know that running a business on the lottery market requires constant innovation while implementing effective business practices in order to maintain market position as well as increase the number of satisfied customers. A quality product, quality service, good prices, interesting innovations and a drive to succeed.  These are some of the basic qualities that every employee of Holding SYNOT should have in mind. In 1991, when the Valenta family started conducting business in the Czech Republic, their strategy and motto was simple – be the best. The Valenta family business has its roots in Eastern Moravia, the same part of the Czech Republic where one of the greatest Central European business families, Bat’a, also came from. The name of the company – SYNOT – was created by combining the words SYNové (sons) and OTec (father). The vision has always been to build a progressive and respected company with stable growth since its inception. The core of Holding SYNOT’s business activities still focuses on the lottery industry, but by pursuing a strategy of finding opportunities in other sectors, the company has integrated an additional 51 companies in the Czech Republic and 16 abroad (in Slovakia, Poland, Latvia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and others).

Apart from the lottery industry, Holding SYNOT operates in a number of different sectors. For example, the company works on the development and application of modern information and data transfer technologies, the sale of BMW vehicles, the administration and reconstruction of real estate, the distribution of a regional weekly as well as the production of a wide variety of enamelled products.

The past few years have produced significant growth for Holding SYNOT. In 2006, the total turnover of the company was approximately 6.5 billion CZK in the Czech Republic. In 2007, this grew by 27% and in 2008 the total turnover for Holding SYNOT in the Czech Republic was approximately 10 billion CZK, an increase of 20% over 2007.

Many of the holding companies are based in the region where the parent company was founded – Uherske Hradiste and its surroundings, other holding companies are centred in a number of major cities in the Czech Republic. There is close cooperation at commercial and technological level among individual holding companies. This enables companies to run their businesses flexibly, to freely exchange knowledge and expertise and to react swiftly to potential opportunities the various markets bring. This is a key element in the national and international success of the holding as a whole.

Business diversification – cultivating new opportunities

The gaming industry has always been the core of the SYNOT holding. Within this industry the central companies are SYNOT W, a.s.; SYNOT TIP, a.s. Growing the business has required diversification into the various sectors in which SYNOT runs its business these days, and so it was a natural progression that next to lottery activities SYNOT holding expanded its business to other areas as well.

The 43 companies cover a wide spectrum, for example, SGS, a.s. is successfully operating in the area of development and application of modern informative technologies; SYNOT Real Estate, a.s. covers property development and management. We shouldn’t forget to mention SYNOT Auto, a.s., security agency GAN, a.s. or Smaltovna Tupesy, a.s.

Gaming industry and betting – the core of the SYNOT holding

The gaming industry remains the heart of the SYNOT holding’s business activities. Because of the substantial competition within the sector it was important to identify and establish our own identity in the market. This is why SYNOT holding concentrated on exploiting the newest available technology from the outset and this has allowed the company to offer something new and original to the market and to stand out above the competition.

The implementation of advanced on-line technology played a crucial part in fulfilling this vision. This step enabled the introduction of several innovative products to the market, which made the lottery activity and betting considerably more transparent and draw it closer to the high standards which are usual in Western Europe; at the same time these innovations brought exciting new possibilities to the players.

SYNOT W, a.s.

SYNOT W, a.s. is one of the oldest and most dynamic lottery companies on the modern Czech market. It was established in 1991 and offers a full portfolio of lottery terminals as well as their rental and service. Every year the goals of the company are being pushed towards more ambitious horizons thanks to partnerships with leading global suppliers and a strategy of being the technological innovator on the market by always looking for newer and newer solutions. The new LINEAR cabinets helped cement the company’s position of market leader on the mechanical game market. Currently the company offers LINEAR, ELECTRA, IMPACT, S5 and video AWP gaming cabinets. The breakthrough year for the company was 1998. This is when it partnered with JPM International, one of the leading global manufacturers of gaming terminals. The partnership has allowed SYNOT W, a.s. to be the exclusive distributor of JPM International products not only on the Czech market, but also in other Central and Eastern European countries including Poland, Slovakia, Latvia, Romania, Bulgaria and other. Together with JPM International, SYNOT W, a.s. is involved in the design and development of new, more technologically advanced products. Every year, two or three new types of gaming terminals are introduced, with the development of each taking approximately four months. In 2005, SYNOT W, a.s. signed a distribution agreement with global manufacturer of electronic lottery equipment, the German company Gauselmann. As of 2004, the company also cooperates with the Swedish supplier of games and central lottery systems, Boss Media , a member of the G-TECH group, a leader in the development and production of lottery games. Thanks to these partnerships, SYNOT W, a.s. is able to offer another interesting
product, the very successful central lottery system.


Thanks to a close network of operating companies (for example SYNOT Praha, SYNOT UH, SYNOT,  SYNOT Brno, SYNOT Breclav, SYNOT Opava or SYNOT Ostrava) SYNOT holding is able to offer its customers in all regions of The Czech Republic the operation, maintenance services and complete guidance in sphere of gaming machines, reels and video.

SYNOT TIP, a.s.
April 1st, 2009 saw the merging of two key companies of Holding SYNOT which operate on sports betting, games and lottery markets. This fusion saw the connection of the SYNOT TIP, a.s., and SYNOT LOTTO, a.s. companies, creating a larger and stronger lottery company. The company became a leader on the entire lottery market after already being one of the top fixed odds betting companies. SYNOT TIP, a.s. has two divisions: Sports Betting division and the Lottery and Games division. The Lottery and Games division came from the SYNOT LOTTO, a.s. company which was founded on January 1st, 2003 and was the first to get approval for electronic roulette on the Czech lottery market. Today, the Lottery and Games division belongs amongst the leading players in operating high-volume gaming machines. Currently the division administrates more than 1000 locations with high-volume gaming machines which rely on Holding SYNOT’s national service network, and the number keeps growing. The Lottery and Games Division of SYNOT TIP also boasts the largest jackpots in the Czech Republic with the maximum prize being 10 million CZK. The company also strengthened its position of market leader by implementing a central lottery system as well as interactive video terminals (IVT).

Other business areas

SGS, a.s.
Although a relatively young IT company, SGS (Synot GSM Solutions), which deals with development and application of most modern system solutions, has achieved great success.
Together with mobile operator T-Mobile CZ, SGS has introduced to the market the very successful product CarNet; a system enabling on-line detection of cars’ motion and position, its navigation and security, assisting business customers to sharply reduce fleet operating costs and also increases greatly the probability of vehicle recovery in case of theft.
Only 8 months after introduction to the market, CarNet has established 1000 company customers.

GAN, a.s.
Security agency GAN, a.s. was established in 1995. GAN offers to its clients a complete suite of services in property security, including electronic security and physical security guards.

Smaltovna Tupesy, a.s.
Smaltovna Tupesy, a.s. became a part of the SYNOT holding in 2001, but its history stretches much further. It was founded in 1947 and is the biggest manufacturer of enamel plates in The Czech Republic and Slovakia. In addition to the street name and number plates, other significant products from this company include bespoke promotional plates, mainly for breweries. Products from Smaltovna Tupesy have become famous not just in Europe but even further afield.

SYNOT Real Estate, a.s
Founded in 2000, SYNOT Real Estate was set up primarily to manage properties owned by the SYNOT holding.
It currently manages approximately 60 properties not only in The Czech Republic but also within neighbouring countries. In addition to managing properties, SYNOT Real Estate also restores them; with experience and expertise in the renovation of historically valuable and listed properties.
As an example SYNOT Real Estate have been involved in the renovation of traditional timber huts in Beskydy Mountains, wine cellar in Maratice, Hotel and arcade Slunce or social housing in Roznov pod Radhostem.

SYNOT Auto, a.s.
SYNOT Auto, a.s., business representative of BMW and Mini Cooper brands in Zlin region has been operating in its field since September 1998. In the representative showroom SYNOT Auto offers accordant environment for selection of luxury cars as well as spare parts storeroom. That way it is not necessary to order majority of spare parts but these can be mounted to the car immediately.

Dobrý den s kurýrem,  a.s.
Dobry den s kuryrem, a.s. is an editorial company of regional weekly, which is published in regions of Uherske Hradiste, Uhersky Brod, Uhersky Ostroh, Veseli nad Moravou and Hornacko. It brings interesting interviews; practical information, sport reports and competitions for readers along with complete and survey regional news.

SYNOT in foreign countries

Holding’s aim is not only expanding into other industrial branches but to foreign countries as well. SYNOT currently operates in 6 countries within Central and Eastern Europe, while most successful are its subsidiaries in Slovakia, Poland, Latvia and Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania and others.

Holding runs its business through several companies in Slovakia. SYNOT W Slovakia, s.r.o. is the exclusive representative of JPM International in this country; SYNOT Arcade,s.r.o., has recently obtained licence for IVT operation; and SGS,a.s. offers in Slovakia complete operations securing and AWP monitoring, while using most modern technologies.

SYNOT Polska SP, z o.o., based in Warszawa, has been operating in Polish market in area of gaming industry with low-risk gaming machines since 2002 and it is the exclusive supplier of JPM International products for Poland. In April 2006 SYNOT holding obtained share in Fortuna SP., z o.o., a well known polish company operating in the gaming industry, and thereby strengthened its promising position in the market.
In Latvia holding runs its business activities through SIA “JOKER LTD”, which celebrated 10th anniversary in 2005. Company successfully runs its business in area of gaming industry and administration services in entertainment sphere. Company has founded Successful sports; relaxation and entertainment centre Joker Club in Latvian metropolis Riga in 2002. This centre offers to its visitors innumerous possibilities how to pleasantly spend leisure time – from sauna and swimming pool, across squash and fitness centres to several bars and restaurants.
Ukrainian company Royal was founded in 1992 as a mutual Czech-Ukrainian business. The company successfully evolved over time and these days it is one of the biggest Ukrainian operators of gaming machines. Royal has opened Czech restaurant at the centre of Lvov in 2005, which is one of the most popular and much-frequented places in the city.

Preserving our heritage and giving back to the community

For every nation the most essential is clearly its culture. It captures its character, traditions and values. That is why it is necessary to take care of culture and protect it, so the precious heritage hidden in it is preserved for future generations. We consider important to give financial resources to support projects which enrich, keep or otherwise take care of national culture, and thanks to our prosperity we have been actively supporting it for six years so far.

SYNOT holding mainly implements support and development of folk traditions by means of foundation Kids-Culture-Sport, which was founded in 2002 by Ivo Valenta. Nowadays the foundation with nation-wide coverage hands out only through grants more than 10 million Czech Crowns for realization of many projects in spheres of education, children and youth leisure time, culture and sports. The foundation also supports number of other meaningful regional or national projects, out of which could be mentioned International festival of films for children and youth in Zlin or Wine and open sights festival of Slovacko region.

Also individual holding companies place emphasis on openly-beneficial activity. SYNOT holding has decided to support two pillars of Czech culture through SYNOT TIP, a.s. on long term basis – National theatre and National gallery. Holding also gives long term support to foundations Kapka Nadeje and Tereza Maxova foundation.
