The online solution – a continually growing market

Holding SYNOT was one of the first to come to the Czech and Slovak markets with an online solution. Interactive video terminals were launched in November of 2004 with the first terminals coming to Slovakia in May of 2006. The results and experience gained over the entire time that Holding SYNOT has been in existence have cemented the idea that the company is moving in the right direction.

In the event of a malfunctioning piece of equipment, all critical components have backups guaranteeing that any technical issues won’t lead to a loss of service or data. An important part of ensuring this reliability are a number of hardware and software safety features designed to prevent hacking into the communications network or influencing the course or outcome of the game.


Central server system


The most important components of the central server use the newest products from Hewlett-Packard. The reliability and continuous support from HP guarantee maximum protection of the customer’s investment. Every terminal is connected via a secure private network to the central server system which is located at the authorized data center and can only be accessed by authorized employees. The data center is networked through multiple independent internet connections (optical, copper, wireless) which automatically back each other up. Even a brief outage of any of the lines will have no effect on the functions of the IVT system.

SYNOT uses a complex system for personnel identification and controlling access. Anything that happens, including all movement and access to the data center is recorded by a system of cameras and evaluated immediately at the security center. The data center is also equipped with equipment designed to quickly detect and locate fires. One of the conditions for the continuous operation of the data center is the uninterrupted supply of power. A basic element of the system is backup power supplies (UPS), which cover short-term power outages (like during a thunderstorm or surge). In an emergency situation, power is automatically provided by a diesel generator which can provide energy in the long term. As all of the computer components generate a lot of heat, it is impossible for the entire system to run without adequate cooling. Air conditioners maintain appropriate temperature and humidity levels in the data center. The number and capacity of air conditioning units in the center greatly outweigh its current needs.



Central lottery system (VLT, IVT)


Compared to older gaming cabinets, the double screen terminals provide a far more comfortable gaming experience. They offer the player more information about the game including bonuses or jackpots. The machines also allow operators to inform players about interesting events or benefits at a specific place or gaming network.

TITO (Ticket – In, Ticket- Out) system


For security reasons, the terminals don’t dispense any cash. They allow the player to add credit with cash, but any winnings are paid out by the personnel on the basis of a valid ticket with a barcode printed out by the player. The player can have the winning ticket cashed immediately or it can be used later to add credit to the game. The validity of tickets is also adjustable within the system.

Terminal service application

Every terminal is equipped with a card reader. The chipped cards are given to people who are authorized to use the machine. Every card has a unique login and password so it can easily be determined who logged into the machine and when. The authorization level for the cardholder is established by the central system administrator. The service application allows for a number of functions, including “payment of winning tickets”, “online account information”, “account status”, “checkout status”, etc. 

 

 

 

Wide assortment of games

Advertising 

 
The terminal also has the potential to be used as an advertising/presentation medium. The top screen can be used to display almost any kind of “SWF” (flash) clip. The content can be remotely distributed to all terminals on the network, only some terminals on the network, or only a single specific terminal. This can be used to immediately inform players about interesting winnings or current promotions and benefits of the service.

The Back Office Pitboss system is a web application that allows the system administrator to remotely configure, monitor and service interactive video terminals on your gaming network.
Part of the benefits that Pitboss offers are the extensive reports and statistics which will allow you to see which games are the most successful, which are being played the least, what the actual winning percentage of the system is, or the current jackpot status and history.
